Arkansas Winter Outdoor Festival Offers Exciting Activities for Families

An annual winter festival in Little Rock promises to bring families together with engaging outdoor-themed activities. From January 24 to 26, the Arkansas State Fairgrounds will host the 35th edition of the Big Buck Classic, alongside a special youth-focused hunting gear zone organized by the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation. This event aims to provide an enjoyable experience for all ages, combining education with entertainment.

The highlight of the event is undoubtedly the trout tank, where young anglers can attempt to catch hatchery-raised rainbow trout from the warmth of the Arts and Crafts Building. Event coordinator Tyler Lawrence emphasized that the Kids Zone offers numerous activities beyond just fishing. Participants can look forward to interactive exhibits, including archery challenges and inflatable BB gun ranges. The Bwana Jim Wildlife Show will also present live animals and educational sessions on wildlife conservation, ensuring visitors leave with a deeper appreciation for nature.

The Big Buck Classic remains the centerpiece of the festival, celebrating deer hunting achievements. Hunters are invited to bring their trophies for scoring, competing in various categories such as archery, crossbow, muzzleloader, and modern firearms. Special divisions for youth and women add extra excitement, offering additional prizes. Beyond the competitions, attendees have the chance to win generous door prizes, including gift cards, a rifle, and lifetime hunting and fishing permits. The event runs from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, providing ample time for everyone to participate and enjoy.

This gathering not only showcases the rich tradition of hunting in Arkansas but also fosters a community spirit among enthusiasts. By encouraging participation from different age groups and genders, it promotes inclusivity and educates future generations about responsible wildlife management. Such events play a crucial role in preserving our natural heritage while inspiring new stewards of the environment.
